First of all, you should ask yourself why you want to get a dog. Should it primarily guard your home, perhaps live with you as a child-friendly family dog, or be by your side as a companion in old age? There are many reasons for choosing a new "family member" and of course they should be well thought through.
Each dog breed has its own special physical characteristics (e.g. size), temperament (e.g. hunting instinct, plenty of exercise) or special requirements (e.g. coat care).
Think about how you can integrate your new companion into your lifestyle with all of his characteristics without neglecting his needs. Because only a well-balanced and happy dog will bring you joy in the long run.
When it comes to size, the more space, the more dog, the bigger the city, the smaller the dog...
Male or female?
Both options have advantages and disadvantages. The male dog needs a slightly firmer hand, he sometimes wants to test where he stands. Nevertheless, he is also a real delight, he is in no way inferior to a female dog when it comes to cuddling and he also likes to give his heart to his owner. The female dog is usually a little more affectionate, but she can also be a little "bitch" from time to time and also has her period every six months.
Whatever you decide, with a Bichon Frisé by your side, a small, white, curly ray of sunshine will accompany you through life.
